Five kilometres of fine fibre is wrapped around a communal shelter, without permission or consultation.
The strand is so fine, it’s almost invisible.
A deliberate provocation.
What’s an artist to do when confronted with an artwork that annexes communal space? What’s the line? Who’s crossing?
Stories are the threads of our existence, weaving our collective imagination of the world.
These narratives deliberately include and exclude with purposeful intent...
...usurping the perceptual space in which we navigate the complexities of our journey.
Once they worked out what had happened, the art centre’s residents found a way inside without breaking the thread. The shelter was used like this for the remainder of the residency.
